‘National
Children’s Day’ is an opportunity and fist for all the children.
It is good and obvious to see various entertaining and
competitive programs conducted in the schools. But, it should
not be restricted just in those activities. Today forty percent
of our children are deprived of the study. We should bring
children’s day for them also.
Children’s day
is an important day that comes once in a year. Using this day as
an opportunity we have to evaluate the entire works done in the
field of children within the year and discuss about the weaknesses
and failures. We have to evaluate the effectiveness of the laws
related to the children and make a clear viewpoint on updating and
improving them.
Actually, we
are not able to mobilize all the social classes in the celebration
of the children’s day. There is a misconception that in children’s
day, the programs should be conducted only by the organizations
and institutions related to the children. Considering the slogan
specified for it, various social groups and classes like
farmers, workers, ethnic groups etc should conduct programs
for the children of their sector and make the children’s day a
meaningful and popular event.
The children’s
day’s slogan of this year ‘Children are the zone of peace’ is a
contemporary issue. This has shown a way for peace by including
the children’s reality. So, we have to march ahead making an
agenda to create an environment suitable to work for the children.
Presently, only
ten percent of children are covered by the children’s day. So,
children’s day should be free from the traditional committee.
Children’s day can be made a fruitful event by utilizing it to
discuss various matters such as- ‘works done by the elders for the
children within the whole year’, ‘what were the benefits gained?’,
‘now how to move ahead?’ etc.
The time has arrived. We to make a clear viewpoint about how to celebrate
the children’s day. It is because unless we are able to celebrate
it with a clear and meaningful program, it would be providing
special benefits only for the children of certain class. So, all
the organizations and institutions working for the children should
be united. They should formulate a clear destination and conduct
the children’s day with the programs that would make the event
meaningful and cover all the children of Nepal.
